The Smithsonian announced today that they have released 2.8 million images into the public domain (CC0 license). In celebration of this I made a bot you can follow that will post one random image from the set every 8 hours:

We’re excited to be launching a new venture with @FSGOriginals@twitter.com called Logic Books. The first season, to appear this fall, will feature four short books.

In the coming weeks, Electric Eel will be sharing original essays from our authors. Here’s the first. mcdbooks.com/electric_eel/prot

@pagrus you forgot about when it’s used to move things around that you don’t want moved around. it’s good for that, too

Attention #Mastodon sysadmins! A new release with some security fixes will drop on Thursday, prepare to upgrade -- we'll release 2.9.x, 3.0.x, and 3.1.x versions to make sure you have the easiest time upgrading for this.

Logic is now on ! You can follow us at logic.camp/@logic.

New to the decentralized web? We have a great interview with @tinysubversions@twitter.com about decentralized social media in our upcoming Security issue. In the meantime, check out his guide: runyourown.social/

this cross-posting was super simple to set up using @renatolond's Twitter to Mastodon service! it also posts from Masto to Twitter, but we won't be using it for that.

service: crossposter.masto.donte.com.br
code: github.com/renatolond/mastodon

Renato is also responsible for local-only posting, which my instance runs via Hometown—thank you for all the cool things!

for those interested, I just set up an official Logic Magazine fediverse account!

it'll be mostly cross-posts from our Twitter account, but there may be some original content.

give it a follow at: @logic

I found this digitized interview with a worker on Community Memory (public bulletin board system in Berkeley/SF in 70-80s) from Processed World!

I didn't realize it was online—last saw in print in the SFPL's special collections (they have every issue of Processed World at the main branch—a gem).

@mood @pagrus @eqe @zee oh no worries! thanks for the link!

I think moving the conversation online longterm makes sense, but we could start in-person in part to see if there's anything there to begin with.

no strong feelings though if folks want otherwise!
